Library re-launch event

Recently we celebrated the refurbishment and investment in our library with a re-launch event.

Author Peter J Murray visited school to re-launch the library, over 150 children lined up to get their books signed, the atmosphere was fantastic! The Hexham Courant also visited to take photos of the book signing extravaganza! Peter J Murray commented as he cut the ribbon into the library that he thought Highfield was a ‘fantastic school with a great reading ethos.”

Overall, there is a real buzz about reading at Highfield at the moment- with record numbers of kids attending the book signing! Well done to Mr Bell, Miss Jones, the Librarians, the Year 8 English Leaders, Peter J Murray…and all the keen readers and staff at Highfield for making it happen!

The school library is open before school from 8:30am and every lunchtime. Children can borrow one fiction and one non-fiction book. We are very lucky to have pupil librarians who do an amazing job of helping Miss Jones with the day-to-day running of the library. If books are lost or damaged, a £5.00 donation is requested towards a replacement. The library is also there for anyone who needs a quiet place to do homework or as a place of quiet solitude.
